Thanos is the Founder & CIO of ABP Invest, a research boutique established in 2015 to provide strategic outlook and analysis on geopolitics, economics, markets and FX. The team seems to have made prescient calls in the past including calling for higher inflation from June 2020 and the subsequent hiking cycle in US rates. Thanos maintains high convictions views on a variety of macro assets classes, in some cases contradicting mainstream expectations.

 

ABP Invest provides a strategic outlook and analysis on Geopolitics, Economics, Markets and FX through a personal and customized relationship. They are an independent research boutique based in London providing top-down analysis with transparent and actionable insight to CIOs, PMs and Strategists across asset classes. Their clients span the globe and vary across institutional asset managers, asset owners, public funds, insurance companies, private equity firms, hedge funds and family offices.

 

Prior to establishing ABP Invest, Thanos was in asset management for 20 years with CSFB Investment Management / Credit Suisse Asset Management and Investec Asset Management across fixed income, emerging markets, currency management and multi-asset. He began his career as an Economist for the UK Government Economic Service through the civil service Fast Stream graduate program, coincidentally amidst the outset of the ERM Crisis of 1992. His Minister was William Hague.

 

Thanos managed portfolios for a number of FTSE, Dow and DAX pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, local authorities and family offices. His team was twice presented with the “Currency Manager of the Year" award in 2004 and 2010. He managed assets throughout the 1997 South-East Asian crisis, the 1998 Russian and LTCM crises, the dotcom bubble in 2000 and the more recent Financial and Eurozone crises, which helped provide a broader perspective of geopolitical developments and macroeconomic impacts to financial markets. He also called Trump’s surprising US victory in 2016!
